Hi reomared,

What kind of batteries did you put in? Standard AA batteries from the store, or quality high capacity (>2500mAh) rechargeable batteries that was fully charged?

For digital cameras that use AA batteries, good quality >2500mAh rechargeable batteries are recommended.
Those non-rechargeble AAs you buy in the supermarket are sometimes fairly old when bought, and if they do work it's nowhere near the ability of good rechargeable ones.

I used to use 2800mAh Energizer ones in my battery grip for my Canon dSLR (it used 6 of them with an adapter) and I had hundreds of shots (with flash) before needing to recharge.

I understand that rechargeable batteries would be better but I have always used Rayovac fusion 12 year power guarantee in the past. Why now all of a sudden they don't work?

@reomared This is just speculation on my part, but the batteries you put in «could» be old stock. Batteries should have a date of manufacture on them, depending on where they’re produced and the governing law in your country.

Even though manufacturers say a battery is good for 10 years «on the shelf», that’s unfortunately often not the case.
