Mute switch finally given up

After years of twiddling with it, switching it backwards and forwards, my mute switch first became intermittent and has now stopped muting completely. If I have it in the 'mute' position, the phone buzzes incessantly and switches constantly between mute and unmute.

What part do I need to replace to fix this?

Thank you :-)

jozmaz, I would imagine that you need the headphone jack assembly, as the mute button/switch is part of this assembly. I would recommend that you first follow our guide here and inspect your current mute switch/button. It's possible that the current switch is just dirty and a good cleaning will set it right. If, however, you find that the switch is clean (or cleaning doesn't help), then it is likely just a bad unit. But have no fear! For we sell this part, right here.
