Keyboard replacement compatible with different layout?

History

Hello,

After spilling some wine on my 4 year old SR MacBook Pro. The "." and "left/home" buttons aren't working anymore.

To get this problem fixit at my local Apple Reseller, it will cost me €300.

I can buy a replacement keyboard on eBay for around €30-40.

My MacBook Pro has a dutch/EU - US Intl. layout keyboard. The ones I found on eBay are all US. I don't care because the layout is almost the same.

But will it work in my MacBook Pro? Will OS X recognize the keyboard and change the layout?

I hope my question is clear enough to understand.

Keyboard i want to buy; (http://www.ebay.com/itm/APPLE-MACBOOK-PR...)

My current keyboard layout; (http://kttns.org/4ywy1)

Thanks. First I will check if my insurance will cover my damaged keyboard. If not, I will buy one from eBay. And fix it myself!

Danny,

The MacBook Pro will recognize the keyboard. OS X will recognixe that there is a keyboard there and believe it has the setup as the original keyboard.

You will need to change the keyboard layout in OS X. Then OS X will understand what keyboard is attached. Instructions for doing this are here and here.
