Pt cruiser limp mode

Where should I begin to look for the cause?

This is really strange , my car shifts gears fine until I hit a good bump along the street. Once it hits a couple manhole covers or potholes the dash display flickers once or twice and the transmission stops shifting past second gear. I do not believe this is a mechanical problem because it always seems to happen when there's a few bumps or potholes? Has anyone had this problem and how did you find the issue? Where should I look,it strikes me as an electrical problem?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi,

Get the OBDII port scanned for any fault codes.

This may be a good place to start to find out what is happening when the car is in limp mode.

I've read that some auto parts retail chains in the USA will do this for free

as previously mentioned in a comment, get the codes read. In the USA places like autozone and O'Reilly will do this for free. See what it says. The fact that a bump causes it tells me its almost certainly electrical. Loose grounds or plugs are likely culprits. Its going to suck, but you'll need to start chasing wires and double checking everything until you find the cause. Could be electrical connector to the transmission.

It is an electrical problem, it starts from the connection that reaches the transmission and sees separating the cables, it is probable that some have been damaged and they are making a short, it already happened to me and I solved it that way, with patience separate and if there are stuck cables, peel them off and tape them
