You should be able to look up the IMEI by entering in *#06# on the keypad. It works on my 3GS anyway. Just tested and it works on the iPhone 4 also.

I know that :-) But what if the iPhone could nod turn on? Is it written somewhere on the parts itselves?

There is a small size programme of less than 2Mb called 'Tinyumbrella'. Download it and run, it has a row for IMEI and it will show you. Besides it saves your SHSH just in case you have installed a newer version of Apple's IOS and you want to go back to the previous version, and the most interesting thing about it is that it does not install anything on your system.
Just go to tinyumbrella.co
@Kia Love, ,ay be because this question is over a year old. If you need to download tinyumbrella, use this link. BTW I'd appreciate if you DBD and delete your wtf.
Shai it helps if you Update your question instead of editing it. It is difficult to keep track of it if you edit it, after somebody gives an answer.
oldturkey03,
take a look at this guide...http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/Insta... step 24.. there is a serial no. or barcode on the inside of the metal frame..is this an imei no??? might be worth a look.
pollytintop,
Thanks... But I have no idea what is this bar code :\
Shai,
What more do you want? Not by turning it on, not by looking at the sim card tray? You want to shake it and say the magic word and it'll write it in dust on the screen?
rab777hp,
on the box it came with??? just in case you have it... Rab you made me laugh...quite a lot. thanks!
