Broke the HD sensor connector installing an HD, Will this harm mac?

History

After helping many people upgrade their Mac Minis HDs, Memory, and other things, I decided to put an SSD in my Mac Mini. While removing the HD temp sensor plug (clip) the whole thing broke broke off the Sata daughter card that holds the HD and optical drive. Will it hurt my mac mini to run with the fan on full tilt? I use this as a server in a closet so the sound is not bothersome. If it is bad to run it this way, where can I find that daughtercard for a reasonable price to fix this. Thank you for your help!

Would you please post a picture of what remains on the daughter card?

According to EXACTLY which machine you have (please give the last three letters of your serial number), you can solve your problem for about $30. The interconnect board, Apple part # 922-8807 needs replacement:

UPDATE - Thanks for the update on which machine you have. Your part number is 922-7320

Do a web search for that number. They can be bought for $9.99 on eBay.
