Laptop Fan not rotating?

I faced this problem previously and lost my Sony VAIO Laptop the same issue is with my Lenovo.

Issue started when i found that my laptop is producing lot of heat when designing and suddenly tuned off. So i opened the back cover , switched it back on and found fan's not rotating.

Hi @narengs7 ,

Here is a link to the service manual for your laptop.

Scroll to p.41 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the fan.

If the fan is faulty (use an Ohmmeter to test it out of circuit), scroll to p.74, item #10 to find the part number for the fan, (31042378). Search online using the part number only in the search box of your browser to find suppliers of the part.

Hopefully this is of some help.

I have had a few laptop fans die on me before. Often it is due to dust that either blocks connections. The first thing I would try is removing the fan and giving it a good clean, checking connectors etc. You'll be surprised how many of them spring back to life after a simple clean...

Let me know how you get on :)
