When I'm listening to my Ipod with earphones, I hear the intruments of the music but I can not hear any lyrics...I might hear one word, but normally it's nothing but instrumental.

loisneely, try a different set of headphones and see if that makes a difference. If that does not make a difference you may have to check your setting and reset to default and/or do a restore with iTunes. Of course make sure that all your music etc. is backed up. the other possibilities are a bad head phone jack and messed up equalizer settings.
