won't work with bose docking station

History

Will not play or charge when placed on docking station.Pop up message states that docking apparatus is not compatible. \do not have trouble with ipod classic

Yep- the iPods made from 2008 onwards (excluding the Classic) only charge over the USB connection. Many older speaker systems use the FireWire standard. The Bose system is one of those. I believe your best solution would be to buy the Griffin Charge Converter with the Sound Dock cradle. Buy it here.
