Screen image flutters, does not respond to touch...

My Ipod 6th generation worked perfectly for years. One day while listening to a podcast, a voice suddenly interrupted. It started listing the contents of my Ipod and would not stop.

I went into settings, made sure voice over was turned off (it was) and it kept on doing it.

I went to local Applestore and met with a tech. He disappeared with it for 15 min, then returned saying that he could not be sure, but he thought the battery needed changing. He quoted me $59.00 to do the job.

I said i would think about it and left. When I tried the Ipod again it worked fine but an hour later the voice over returned and something new started happening, the screen started flickering and would not respond to touch.

Does this sound like a battery going bad or is it more?

You might try a reset, and if that doesn't do it then maybe back it up and do a factory restore, both found here: https://www.apple.com/support/ipodnano/6...

Unfortunately we don't have a troubleshooting section for this device but here's what we have for the previous generation iPod Nano 5th Generation Troubleshooting (None of it seems to fit this situation).

If nothing else, you could try the battery replacement yourself. Make sure you're not under warranty first though! If you are, you'll want to weigh your options carefully.

Thanks Rachel - I did a reset following the instructions you provided in one of the links above. Worked like a charm! What was that Apple tech at the Apple store smoking?

There's a reason we put the Apple logo on our trash cans. Congrats on the successful fix!

I have had my iPod touch 6th gen for almost three years works fine but the other day someone punched my pocket(not too hard) that had my iPod in it and now the screen has lines all over the screen and cannot see my screen at all but I can see my phone flashing when a notification comes through so it still works is there a way to fix this at a phone shop (btw I live in london)
