Device continually reboots during map loading stage

History

When starting the GPS the progress bar displays, but once it gets to the 'Loading maps' stage it reboots and starts the cycle over again.

I tried doing a factory reset (by booting while touching the bottom right of the screen). When the screen asked if I wanted to do a factory reset the 'Yes' and 'No' buttons were unresponsive.

1. Try connecting to a PC!If successful,

2. Connect to computer, & do a forced re-install of the map.

Unfortunately connecting to a computer seems to have the same effect.

Next thing I would try would be to crack open the case (Provided there is no warranty), seperate all of the parts, ensuring that all cable , - or plug connections are seperated, get some aluminium foil, & foam rubber, press the rear of the board, - boards onto the al foil. This completly discharges everything, - allowing for a fresh re-boot. microscopically check for any corrosion, and clean off if any found.

Re-assemble, plugging in the battery last. And then re-boot. Remember, - use fabric gloves, and keep yourself earthed. I have had more success with this aproach than failures.

Call up garmin support and have them walk you through reflashing the firmware through the boot block method. This will reflash the device's firmware to the latest version and may fix the issue where it reboots during the loading maps.
