iPod 4th Gen 40GB and 20GB have the same spare parts?

I need to replace my earphone jack for my ipod 4th gen 20GB, The available spare part is for 40GB. can i use the Earphone jack for 40GB to my 20GB iPod 4th gen?

It wont interchange on mine. The connector to the logic board is different on mine. You might resolve that by using the current ribbon cable coming from the head phone / hold switch. It physically is the same and does fit.

I guess what I am saying is that the physical dimensions are the same but the wire needs to be changed to the one that comes of your motherboard to the headphones.
