iPod is frozen on hold.

My iPod Photo is stuck on hold. I cannot reboot. I also tried installing a hold switch from another iPod Photo & that didn't work, so it isn't a bad switch. Any ideas? New hard drive? New logic board? Something else?

I got the problem solved with the help of a contributor to ifixit & am posting the solution here in case it helps anyone else. In my case the ribbon wire going from the switch to the logic board had somehow become a bit loose & wasn't securely fastened. The ribbon feeds into a small square in the upper right corner of the logic board. I simply pushed down on the square & heard a click. Problem solved. Ifixit has some great photos of the iPod insides that show the components I am referring to.

If this is a 4th generation honestly I'd probably lean towards replacing the device with another 4th or even 5th gen model. Not typically a cost effective repair.

Thanks Matt. I actually got an iPod Touch recently, but the 4th gen photo is my favorite model. It actually does some things the Touch doesn't & almost everything is easier to do on than on the Touch. The click wheel is genius.
