MBP can't boot (no chime, no display)

History

Hello Everyone,

Since three days, my Macbook pro is refusing to boot : I can see the front LED, ear the Superdrive start, ventilators and HD are started too; Then 10 seconds after, it reboots and does the same.

Display stays black, no chime too.

I replaced the two RAM sticks, tried SMC reset and PRAM reset (as I'm not even getting a grey screen, I think I tried that for nothing). I also replaced the Hard drive and disconnected the Superdrive.

Nothing! It keeps rebooting again and again...

Does someone have already seen that?

Thanks

Alex

What are you using to power the mac when this happens? This sounds like a power issue to me. Try removing the battery and powering off an AC adapter only. Make sure you are using an 85 Watt AC Adapter and not a 65W or less.

Tried with two different 85W adapter. Still same issue. Thanks for your help !

Try booting into Safe Mose by booting with the shift key held down.

Next try

+ booting from another LEOPARD device and applying the latest system update.

+ repairing permissions via disk utility

Safe mode is unreachable because i'm not even getting a grey screen. Also tried to boot from my Leopard Install CD and that's not better. Thanks for your help

Try an

external display if that fails too you most likely have a damaged GPU or logic board.
