Horizontal lines on the bottom third of the display

History

When my computer freezes the cursor stops working.Then the bottom third of the display gets populated by a series of horizontal lines stretching right across the screen. Whatever is on show remains in place.

Sounds like

GPU or overheating problem.

If your fan sensor or fan is shot overheating will freeze the box.
