HELP! Touch screen not responding after water damage.

History

After leaving my water bottle in my bag, my iPod got wet. Stupid of me, but I left it on and tried to check if the music still worked. After awhile, I tried to turn it off, but the touch screen wouldn't work. So I left it in a bowl of rice for a couple of days and found that the iPod turned on and everything was great until I tried to unlock my iPod. I again put it in rice (thinking that the water that had not been absorbed by the water would be absorbed), and the touch screen is still not working!! I then tried restoring it, which was just a pain in the butt and my iPod won't restart for some reason >.<.

Any pointer/suggestions? Should I put it in rice again? Or should I just fork up the money to get it repaired by Apple or any other company??

Please and thank you!!

You should try replacing the front panel / digitizer assembly (which contains the touch sensor).
