Why does the trans take so long to shift into OD?

Shifts fine into second but a little too long to shift to Drive and overdrive. Then if you are at an even smooth speed it wants to drop from OD into drive. Sometimes the shifter on the column moves and it jumps out of gear. The trans shifts great and never vibrates or grinds or nothing.

Options

Are there certain speeds the transmission downshifts from OD to drive or will it happen at any speed? You may have a valve body problem in your transmission.
