Both controller ports are not working

I purchased a complete in box non dual shock PlayStation at a flea market. It loads games fine but both controller ports are not working. When I plug in a dual shock controller, the analog light will not go on. I don't know if the memory card ports work as I can't access the memory card screen.

The console itself it spotless, no rust at all. I've tried removing the controller port ribbon cable and examining components but everything seems fine.

Note: The original controller it included has a broken cable where someone had twisted each wire together and covered them with electrical tape. I haven't messed it with it yet, but it doesn't work on a PS1 I have. I include this info in case it may have caused the problem.

Could a bad controller have blown the port? How would I troubleshoot this? Any point I can test with my fluke meter that would help to troubleshoot the issue?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

What model is the console? If it is SCPH-5501, I think I may have a solution. Also, if you could provide pictures, that would help.

Lucky for you, I just fixed my controller ports. The reason my controller ports stopped working was because PS605, which is an inductor, was blown (Even though everything looked OK from the outside). Use a multimeter to check the continuity of PS605. It should read as a dead short (since it's an inductor). If it doesn't have a short, it's blown and needs to be replaced.

Please also send pics of the motherboard so I can confirm it is fine. I need to make sure nothing else could be wrong.

Yes, it is a SCPH-5501.

Serial Number U9176557

I’m not sure what to take a picture of as everything on it looks clean and normal. I’ve since put it back together and in the box for storage. Anything in particular you would like a picture of?
