My Toshiba just keeps crashing. Is it worth replacing the hard drive?

My Toshiba just kept on crashing until it just wouldn't open at all. I got a pc repairer to look at it and he got it going, but when it's me trying to turn it on, it just won't!

I bought a new laptop, but I don't know whether to throw out the Toshiba or try to get it going again.

When it started having problems, it would go 'ping' like a light bulb going out.

Jane Long, what does it do when you first turn it on? Does it do anything?

Does it give you any errors while on. Errors can be anything from file not found, to the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). If they do the error codes from these errors would be great to have, or just a general description of the errors if not.
