Stripped Screw (STEP 6 of the Replacing Fan guide)
I have tried everything. EVERYTHING. And that includes googling it a million times too.
I am on step 6 of the "Replacing Macbook core 2 duo fan" guide. There are three screws to remove for this step, and I am able to remove two of them, but the third one is completely stuck. It is the outside screw closest to the charger/usb. I've been working on it on-and-off for like two months ha. In the process of trying to get the freaking thing out, I may have stripped it a bit. Ok I did strip it.
Just so you don't give me any advice that is redundant, and/or irrelevant, I will tell you what I've done.
First of all, I have all the correct tools that came in a kit for macbooks.
Second of all, I have tried:
Rubberband trick
Heat
Drill
Wrench or pliers
excessive forces
siri
crying
every tool I could possibly find in my house (a lot of tools)
leverage using two tools
Asking you guys is my last resort, just because I wanted to make sure I couldn't figure it out myself. I am sure this problem comes up often, but after looking through all the related posts I could not find one that helped my specific situation.
Please tell me there is some life hack, computer hack, macgyver hack, to get a stripped screw out (after you've tried everything else.)
I will not take "it's impossible" as an answer because I do not believe any repair is "impossible".
THANK YOU.
If you need me to clarify anything, or if you have any questions please feel free to ask away.
Is this a good question?
