How do I replace the touchpad on my Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop?

I find that the touchpad on my Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop has become very "desensitized" to touch. I find that I have to tap it multiple times to click on an icon. I have set the sensitivity setting up as high as it will go, yet the problem persists. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi,

First you have to look for your laptop model touch pad and then follow a YouTube tutorial to have it replaced. as it will require a lot of time and proficiency I would suggest you to buy touch pad over internet and take it to a technician shop and have it replaced for you.

Good luck.

I recognize this is an old question but just for completion sake, here is what is available now. Download the service manual for the Dell Inspiron 1420 Dell Inspiron 1420 Service Manual from here or use something like this video
