My girlfriend plugged in her Xperia Z to be charged when she did it disnt charge so she unplugged the cable the pins in the charge socket on the phone fell out, so i am trying to replace it how do i do this?

Hi, I work in Mobile device repairs and as such can tell you this is an extremely difficult task to undertake. firstly the device will be void on all warranty and will also loose the water resistant ability it has. the socket is a standard uk micro usb type b female socket and is directly attached to the logic board within the unit meaning its a soldering iron removal and re attachment from experience a standard D.I.Y soldering iron wont do the job as it gets too hot resulting in further damage to the logic board and ultimately an even more broken phone, it needs to be a temperature variable unit. i would suggest the best bet is to see what sony will do warranty wise or take to a repairs shop normally around £50 to have that repair done well worth it when you consider the value of the phone and how easy it is to break it further if wrong heat settings are used.

hi dan thanks for replying it would be really good if you could send or post a step by step guide preferably post one on ifixit so everyone can see it. ive sent the phone off to see if it will be covered by warranty but this guide would be good for future reference

sony xperia has a magntic charging point on the side of the phone, it is the 2 golden spots on the side of the phone. you need to get a magnetic charging dock availble on ebay/ amazon.
it will charge the phone but the micro usb will not be functional.

The pin point were the small end of the charger fits in has gone inside the dock and i dont know how to get it out.
any suggestions?

hmm...this problem was happened to me also.i took it to my nearest mobile shop and they get it replaced for worth 500 Indian Rs .. That was a nice shop .hope you like it.
