it will read other disks but halo 4 what do I do

i have a xbox 360 slim and i just got halo 4 a few days ago and it worked until a family member pulled it out of the xbox and now it does not work some one said if i try it with the hard drive out and if it works with it out i need a new hard drive but i dont want to get a new one do u guys got any other ideas for the xbox to read with the hard drive in

That hard drive theory is non-sense, perhaps the disk is scratched, even slight scratches can make a game inoperable, like when its close to the center of the disk.

you can get disk polishing service at a local play and trade.
