Connection Port is damaged

Hi; I have a damaged port, the inside pin has a slight piece missing off it, enough that it won't recoginize the device on the computer. Although it will charge on my Ipod/Boombox charger! Is this too complicated a fix or too exspensive, I only paid $50.00 for it two months ago.

Thanks Betty

jackbird, you will have to disassemble your iPod. That is most certainly a PITA. Follow this guide to get that done. Then you will have to find a proper connector, which can be quite a chore as well. After that you will have top desolder and then resolder the new adapter. Remember that there are 30 some connections that need to be soldered. You will need a good soldering iron, or a rework station. So is it complicated, yes but doable. Is it easy, absolutely not. You may want to do a Google search and see if you find someone that is willing to do that type of repair for you, or replace the board itself. Hope this helps, good luck
