Can I upgrade my RAM emory

i want to upgrade the RAM of my acer aspire 5742 but when I open it I see a 2 ddr3 RAM memory 2GB each can I change it both to make my RAM into a 8GB

Yes, you can. According to the Acer website the 5742 will support up to 8Gb of ram.
