Will it power up without the hard drive in?
I bought a used Apple iBook that does not have a hard drive. It will not power up even though I have the battery and a new adpater.
Is this a good question?

You are correct of course--I had a brain cramp. Ralph +1
It happens sometimes Ralph LOL !!
Thanks for the answer. It does not light up although I have voltage on the other side of the dc in and at the battery contacts. any thoughts. I have a new ac adapter.
You mean you checked the voltage at the DC in board cable end (black connector) that connect to the logic board ?
Macs require an operating system to power up. You can confirm your computer is ok by booting with a operating system disk in the optical drive. If it boots you should be good to go after you install a hard drive and the OS on the drive. Ralph
