ram pin 200 or 204

i purchased 2x2gb ram chips (pc2-5300) and did not realize until i received it that it was pin 204. i am trying to upgrade my old early 2008 macbook penryn so i can use it as a stationary home entertainment system and i think this particular model is the last few that uses 200 pin before apple switches to 204 pin. anyways, i don't know if that makes any sense but i need to know if i can use these or i need to buy two more ram chips. any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

You wont be able to use a 204 pin module as it will not fit. 204 pin modules are DDR3 meanwhile 200 pin modules are DDR2, and they are not interchangeable.

See if you can return it, if not, I think you could offer it online.

Regards,

I know this is an old thread but I have always been confused by RAM and the PIN numbers. This makes it so understandable! Thanks!

Are the DDR2 200pin and the DDR3 204pin slot keys different?

Where are the other 4 pins?

Thank you for any reply.
