My Screen will not turn on. How can I fix this?

History

I recently dropped my laptop, now when i try to turn on the laptop the screen does not come on.

A few things i noticed:

I see very dim black bars across the screen but nothing else.

I connected to a external monitor but nothing came on.

I took the battery out and drained the battery and then rebooted it but had no luck with that.

This makes me think it is not a screen problem but an internal problem.

Any ideas?

Nate, if the external monitor is not working, it is most likely an issue with the GPU/ video circuit on your board. Disassemble your laptop and inspect the board, and all the cables and connectors as well.
