Loose display connection? Randomly turns off, smacking it helps

Hello,

For about a week or two the display randomly turns off. Doesn't immediately turn on again until I shake it a bit. It's especially noticable when I place it on a table or something, most of the time the display immediately turns off. And takes a couple of tries to turn back on again unless I shake it.

It also shows a weird colour palette sometimes.

Could this be the display connection? Or the display itself, or might it even be processing units or controllers?

Thanks for any and all help

Hi @jsass83255

Sounds more like a loose connection either the display flex cable, the daughter board flex cable (some components on this board are used for the display function) or in the LCD display itself rather than on the systemboard.

Here's a video that shows how to replace the LCD display in the phone which may help as it shows the LCD display cable connection and also the daughterboard flex cable connection (charge port board seen at 1:43 minutes into the video) which you can check first.

If you determine that the problem is in the display, search online for Galaxy A12 lcd display, to find suppliers that suit you best.

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. I'll try to take it apart and check the mentioned flex cables as a first step, to at least rule it out before moving to other steps.
