My Problem

Dropped my iphone 4S flat on its face. Glass did not crack but LCD was dead. No warranty and was not interested in getting a newer model iphone so I opted with this cheap fix.

My Fix

Was a little skeptical of the tools being cheap after reading other reviews, but they did the job for the most part. I had extreme difficulty unscrewing the battery connector screws in step 4. I at first thought the screwdriver was too big, but the screws may have been stripped. I eventually got them out and the repair went smoothly there after. Took about 3.5 hours for the full repair. Screen quality is ok, HOWEVER! I did notice a yellow spot on the lower left hand corner of the screen after reassembly. A couple of forums have suggested that it is due to pressure from tight screws during reassembly but, there are no screws in that area. I just hope that the screen isn't defective and the spot will not spread. I do not want to have to replace the screen yet again, although the fix was simple (besides the stripped screws). Although the spot is annoying, I have my screen back so I will tolerate it. I consider the fix a slight success.

My Advice

To unscrew the stripped screws I put a little piece of masking tape over the screw for grip.

My Problem

The phone had no apparent damage, but the screen had vertical stripes moving like northern lights. Sometimes it was possible to read the screen after a 5-10 min.

My Fix

The package arrived as promised. I used the online step by step guide. Great photos and color coding. Made a piece of paper with 40 squares numbered 1-40. I would put the screws etc from step 1 on square 1 and so forth. Had some colored pens to make colored corners to follow the color coding in the guide, red screw in red corner... This was my first Iphone repair so I was VERY meticulous, and probably spend 2 hrs 30 min on the project, nothing difficult just a lot of very tiny screws and bits....

My Advice

DON'T save the pennies, but get the assembly kit, made my life so much easier. Take your time.....

My Problem

Black screen without any crackles - display replaced.

My Fix

Very nice online guides! Have it already done twice.

My Advice

The cables of the new display frist were not correctly placed and I only noticed it when they were too short to reach the plugs. Had to go back and then every thing was perfect!

Thank you guys!

My Problem

Broken screen

My Fix

My 12 yr old son demanded that he fix it himself. I thought for sure this was going to be an easy $40 down the drain. Lo & behold he fixed it! It was a tedious job as literally every piece had to be taken out. It took him two days to complete because it was getting late & he had to get to bed. He had ran into a few bumps trying to put the tiny screws back. That's it!

My Advice

You must have patience & organized. Otherwise you won't know where anything goes. Also go in YouTube to help guide you through

My Problem

Screen was cracked and bloody!

My Fix

Repair went off without a hitch, thanks to the detailed instructions on your app!

My Advice

Take your time and read instructions thoroughly and follow them precisely...

My Problem

Broken Glass Screen iPhone 4S

My Fix

Followed the instructions forwards and reverse. Very straight forward and pretty simple. Took two to three hours total and was able to complete while having a couple adult beverages.

My Advice

If your screen is shattered around the home button order one. The rubber tape tears easy and especially when you have multiple sharp pieces of glass ripping into it. I reattached it with about 50% of the tape but its obvious that it isn't as secure as it used to be.

My Problem

My phone decided it needed to be cleaned so it went in the washer. That wiped out the display the rest of the phone was fine.

My Fix

The repair took so time because I was interrupted a few times maybe less than an hour total.it was easy enough to do with no problems.

My Advice

The one thing I would suggest would be. Pick a time when no one else is around. Also keep track of the screws.

My Problem

Power switch stop working. Felt no spring/tactical feel to switch.

My Fix

Went ok. Few differences from a 4s. IFIXIT instruction are very useful. I did find that the iPhone4 instructions were less detailed than the 4s. When lose parts would come into play the 4s instructions would call them out. This was not always the case with the 4. When I finished the 4(replacing the power and sensor cable) I discovered a rubber bumber(I think) that may have been used for covering a tight corner at bend point. I found it after I closed up the phone, no idea where it came from other than the phone because it was not there before I started. Over all it went good. Just wish I knew where that part belonged?

My Advice

I did order a set of screws for the phone, because I was replacing a display in a phone that was serviced by someone else and it was missing one or two screws. The issue I have with the set of screws I received was that they did not mark/ describe (mark with size ) each screw. I do not own a micrometer and I could not visably desern the differance between screws.

My Problem

By accident I dropped my phone and it landed face down and shattered the screen. I ordered a replacement kit from IFIXIT and in about a week I received my package and the next morning I replaced the screen. I only had a little difficulty as the screws are very small, but the phone looks good and works good.

My Fix

Overall the repair went well.

My Advice

Make sure you know where each screw that is removed goes back where it came from.

My Problem

My Kid smashed her iPhone 4s screen and I figured, 200 bucks! are you kidding me?!

My Fix

Followed the guides here at iFixit. Seemed daunting at first but just follow and you'll be ok.

My Advice

My advise? Skip eBay and head straight to iFixit for your parts. Sure they are a bit more expensive but hey as the saying goes you get what you pay for and iFixit delivers. Seriously great service and flawless parts. If you are going to do a repair start with the proper parts and and the rest is patients and a great repair guide.
