My Problem

Broken rear glass and vibrator motor on my dad's iPhone 4.

My Fix

Replaced both in under 10 minutes. His frame was bent a little from a drop so it was a little hard to get the new rear glass on (plus I might have forgotten to take off the plastic cover on the inside the first time...) but I got it to fit.

My Advice

Don't forget to take off the plastic covers on both sides.

My Problem

Back cover broken, and battery and dock connector problems.

My Fix

In reviewing your step by step instructions before ordering parts. I determined bottom screws needed the recommended replacements. Ordered parts and kit and all arrived in a few days. Sat down used my magnetic pad, previously ordered, and only used tools provided in kits. The instructions were very helpful, and were right on on possible problems I might encounter. In a short time, and day, I had completed tasks, charging and phone back in use.

My Advice

Reviewing instructions, and using magnetic pad, and tweezers have always been a great help. Do not under estimate your self, you can do it!

My Problem

The home button was unresponsive and after 6 months of AssistiveTouch, I was fed up!

My Fix

Let me first say that the repair was successful without any hiccups.

However, I was NOT prepared for the gruelling 2 hours that this repair took. This experience is a brilliant test of patience; you may discover some things about yourself!

The instructions were thorough and exact, but there's no set of instructions that can make this process easy. Don't pretend you're a tech wizard and internally say "I got this" as you order. Heed the warnings on the page; this repair is DIFFICULT and TIME CONSUMING.

The new home button is as good as new. It gives a crisp click and commands your current app to minimise as smoothly as the sun sets (but way faster).

My Advice

1. Get yourself a piece of A4 paper and section off and label each set of screws and parts: keep them together and in order! (THERE ARE A CRAP LOAD OF SCREWS, AND MOST ARE OF VARYING SIZES)

2. Persist. Be strong my friend, you can do this. If you feel like giving up and throwing your phone out the window, plough on. If you feel like crying, plough on. Soon your home button will be as good as new.

My Problem

Dropped my macbook and hard drive went out of business.

My Fix

Super easy. The replacement hard drive, the accompanying tools, and guide made the repair a piece of cake.

My Advice

Just get the replacement hard drive and tools. Much cheaper than taking it to the Apple store or buying a new computer.

My Problem

Shattered back glass

My Fix

Repair took roughly 2 minutes. It's probably the easiest repair for the iPhonr 4/4s out there.

My Advice

No additional advice. It's pretty straight forward.

My Problem

Rear glass panel occasioned numerous cracks, breaks.

My Fix

Entered the repair with some concerns - not a "techie"; don''t even speak the language well.

Amazed that the entire operation took less than THREE minutes !

Thanks !

My Advice

Have faith in these iFixit folks; if they say it's easy - it is !

My Problem

Broken glass back on old iPhone 4 was making me sad (I want someone to give it a good home and knew it needed some TLC)

My Fix

Took all of about 30 seconds - perfect fit, screws provided and now the phone looks like new!

My Advice

Read up or find a YouTube video. There are thousands, and this repair is sooo easy. A word - the screws are TINY. Put them in a magnetic bowl or on a piece of tape so you don't lose them. Happy repairing!

My Problem

I have had my company-supplied iPhone 4 since 2011. I did not take the best care of it and thus scratched the back panel (and camera lens) to the point that the camera was no longer useful. My company would not provide an upgrade because email, etc worked fine. So I took it to the local Apple store where the associate was not very helpful. I guess he was disappointed to have to work with a dumb customer that still had a iPhone 4. He gave me a quote of about $150 to have the back panel replaced and could not guarantee that would fix the camera. So, I checked on eBay for a replacement phone and found the same type of price gouging. I finally did a web search and found a simple YouTube iFixit video that convinced me that a simple back panel replacement would solve my problem so I bought your very reasonably priced kit.

My Fix

No problems at all. It took all of 5 minutes and my phone now takes non blurry photos again. What a simple solution which I could have avoided had I just protected my phone to begin with.

My Advice

No real advice about the repair as it was so simple. For those who need it, make sure you have a second set of hands to hold the magnifying glass as those screws are tiny.

My Problem

the battery was fired after charging the phone with 220 volts while being deployed and the back glass crack from it dropping in a bad case.

My Fix

using the guides provided on the website it took 15 for the new battery and back glass to be installed.

My Advice

follow the guides and it will go smooth

My Problem

I'd dropped my iPhone 4 and smashed the rear glass panel. Genius Bar replacement cost in Australia appeared to be north of AUD$200 !

I took the opportunity to order other useful tools and accessories from the iFixit web site which all came in at less than half the cost of glass panel repair in Australia!

My Fix

My order arrived from the USA within 3 days! Fantastic!

Following MJ's step by step guide on the iFixit web site, the repair was completed in around 90 seconds. Awesome! I was really impressed.

The repair explanation was very clear and all the parts were excellent, well presented and packaged in an iFixit box.

My Advice

Check out the cost of repairing an item yourself versus paying over the counter repair cost.

If you have the right equipment, like the excellent iFixit Pro Tech Tool Kit, and you follow the clear iFixit web site instructions I'm sure you'll be as surprised as I was as to how much easier, and less costly, it is to do your own repair.

Having bought an iFixit Pro Tech Tool Kit to initially test my inexperienced repair skills, by sacrificing the memory on a MacBook Pro with a smashed screen to create a workable MacBook Pro with a caput memory. The task was successfully completed which has led to friends asking for me to check out their old and/or failing out of warranty Apple equipment.

Good luck.
