If your Xbox Series X does not power on, follow the steps below. If your Xbox powers on but there is no image on your TV or Monitor check out the Xbox Series X Black Screen wiki instead.

Causes

1

If the ‘Xbox’ light on the front of the console is lit, it won't start up unless it detects a working display.

  1. Check your HDMI cable. Ensure that the cable is securely connected to the display and console.
  2. Plug the HDMI into a different port on the TV.
  3. Use a new HDMI cord.
2

Unplug the power supply cord. Wait a minute, and then plug it back into the Xbox.

  1. Ensure the other end is correctly plugged into a wall power outlet.
  2. Check the cord for damage.

Ensure that the wall outlet works.

  • Plug in a different power cord to ensure the wall outlet works.
    • Use a working phone charger, another gaming console, or a TV.
3

If the wall outlet works, reset the internal power supply:

  1. Unplug the power cord from the console.
  2. Wait 10 seconds.
  3. Plug the cord back into the console, and then press the Xbox button on the front of the console.
    • Note: If you have a wireless headset, external hard drive, or other accessory plugged into the USB to charge, this may deplete the internal power supply over time. Unplug everything from the USB ports when resetting the internal power supply.
4

If the light on the power supply is solid white or orange, then the power supply is working and you can skip this step.

  1. If there is no light, unplug the power supply and let it cool for 20 minutes, then plug it back in.
5

If the power supply light is on but your device still does not turn on, the motherboard may be the problem.
