Scanner does not run ¶

Check power source ¶

Examine the USB interface for any issues. Is the cord loose at either the square port connected to the scanner or the USB port connected to the computer? If so, adjust and scan. It may be an issue with the USB port itself. Try a different USB port on your computer and scan. Lastly, try turning it off and on.

Check if scanner is locked ¶

Another reason that the scanner bar may not function is it is locked. For protection during shipping, the CanoScan LiDE 35 is fitted with a locking mechanism that keeps the scanner bar in place. During installation you unlocked the bar. Check underneath the scanner to see if it may be locked. If so, unlock and scan.

Check if scanner is locked ¶

Because the light source is connected with the scanner bar, check if the scanner is locked. This would prevent the scanner from running as well as from lighting up.

No image appears after scan ¶

Check document size ¶

A number of issues may complicate the scanning process. One common issue may be the document size. The CanoScan LiDE 35 is capable of scanning documents to a maximum of an A4 or letter size. This is roughly 8 1/2 x 11 inches. If the document exceeds this size, the scanner may not capture the image.

Check color ¶

While the CanoScan LiDE 35 can register more than 281 trillion colors, occasionally issues with images not scanning can be a problem of color. Try a document of a contrasting color to see whether the problem persists.

If the problem persists then the issue may be with the drivers. Before uninstalling and reinstalling the scanner software, try turning it off and on. If after turning it off and on it continues to be a problem, following the instructions for uninstalling the scanner in the CanoScan LiDE 35 Quick Start Guide. Reinstall and the problem ought to be resolved.

Check the glass ¶

Examine the glass for any smudges, dust or damage that may be causing the CanoScan LiDE 35 to not scan. Use your standard electronic safe glass cleaner.
