Sony Clié does not turn on ¶ 

Sony Clié will not turn on or won't hold a charge.

No Power ¶ 

Verify that the device power is on. If it does not turn on when the power button is pressed, charge the device by connecting it to the charger and the charger to the wall outlet.

Bad Charger ¶ 

Double check to make sure the device and charger are properly connected. Verify that the wall outlet in outputting power to the charger. Try moving the charger to different outlets to make sure the charger is not malfunctioning. Check the charger ports and confirm that no debris is in lodged within.

Broken Screen ¶ 

Check to see if power light is lit up. If light is on, and nothing is displaying on the screen, the problem is most likely the screen. Learn how to install a new screen here.

Sony Clié does not recognize a memory stick ¶ 

Sony Clié is not reading or recognizing from the memory stick.

Bad Memory Stick ¶ 

Confirm that Memory Stick is functional. You can do this by plugging it into a different working device or your computer. If the Memory Stick is not functional, you must replace it.

Loose Connection ¶ 

If you have already confirmed that your memory stick is not malfunctioning, then the connection may be loose. Try removing and then reinserting the memory card in its proper slot. Check for any sort of debris lodged in the memory card slot; if there are debris, remove it. If memory stick is still not recognized, you may need to replace your memory module. Sony Clié volume will not change ¶ 

The volume scroller isn't changing the volume of the device.

Fixed Volume ¶ 

Verify that the volume settings for the device are not fixed and are changeable. If the device has a silent/vibrate setting confirm that it is off and the volume is turned on.

Bad Audio Module ¶ 

Check and make sure that the keyboard works. If the rest of the device is functional then the problem is most likely a broken audio module. Learn how to install a new audio module here.

Bad Operating System ¶ 

If the power light is on but the controls are not working then the problem may be the operating system. In this case you need to install a new motherboard. Learn how to install a new motherboard here.

Sony Clié screen is always black ¶ 

There is nothing visible on the screen when you push the power button.

No power ¶ 

Verify that the device power is on. The light by the 'ON' should be lit if it is. If it does not turn on when the power button is pressed, charge the device by connecting it to the charger and the charger to the wall outlet.

Bad operating system ¶

Sony Clié keypad is non-functional ¶ 

Pushing the buttons on the keypad does not do anything.

Broken Keypad ¶ 

Make sure that all the keys feel the same when pushed and that none of them feel too stiff or too loose. Make sure that none of the keys have become misaligned or popped out. If this is the case then you may need to replace your keyboard.

Malfunctioning Operating System ¶ 

Check to make sure that there is nothing physically wrong with the keyboard. If this is the case, make sure that an error message is not displayed on the screen.
