Samsung Notebook Series 9 Troubleshooting

This page will help diagnose problems with your notebook.

Weak or no wireless connection ¶ 

The computer does not connect to a wireless connection or will not load web pages.

Checking available wireless connections ¶ 

Check the bottom right hand corner of the task bar for the wifi connections icon which is indicated by a icon indicative of a radar pulse and or represents a 4 part increasing hemisphere and or a increasing in height series of bars. Click this icon to pull up the wireless connection panel. Also, you can search the windows panel below by clicking the bottom right hand windows icon or press the windows button on the bottom right hand portion of the keyboard. Within the windows panel you can use the search bar to find the wireless connections panel or access the control panel from there and select the network and internet options. Select an available connection network that is either open or which the password is known to the user and with preferable with strong signal indicated by more full bars.

Checking the wireless connection adaptor ¶ 

If it is known that there is a wireless connection present that you cannot access as it does not appear in the wireless connections panel then check to make sure the wireless adaptor for the computer is turned on by pressing the FN and the F12 key bindings simultaneously to make sure the adaptor is turned on indicated by a non-crossed adaptor icon. If this does not work and you are sure there is a wireless connection available that you cannot access then either that connection is not compatible with the device or there may be need for a wireless adaptor replacement.

Check the wireless connection router ¶ 

Consider checking your router’s functionality by making sure it is plugged in and on and refer to how to properly operate your router from a different source and or the manufacturer for proper router usage.

Poor or no audio ¶ 

There is no sound coming from the computer and or compatible audio devices.

Check the audio volume ¶ 

Check the bottom right hand corner of the taskbar for a speaker icon and click this icon for a panel to appear regarding the volume options and make sure the volume is not simply too low and or muted. Also, you can search the windows panel below by clicking the bottom right hand windows icon or press the windows button on the bottom right hand portion of the keyboard. Within the windows panel you can use the search bar to find the volume or sound panel or access the control panel from there and select the hardware and sound options.

Check the external audio device ¶ 

Check to make sure the audio device plugged into the audio port fits comfortably within the port.

Frozen or unresponsive screen ¶ 

The screen will not change or respond to input.

Restart computer ¶ 

Press the ctrl, alt, and delete keys simultaneously. Then press the power button in the lower right corner and click restart. If you are unable to move your mouse or press any keys then just hold down the power button on your laptop until the computer shuts down.

Trackpad won’t work ¶ 

Trackpad unresponsive to touch input

Check fn button ¶ 

Many laptops have a function button that turns the trackpad on or off. On this laptop that button is the f5 key. Try pressing the fn and the f5 keys simultaneously and try to move the cursor. If that doesn’t work try restarting the computer.
