Magellan RoadMate 5250T-LM Troubleshooting
The Magellan RoadMate 5250T-LM is a portable GPS navigation device with a color touch screen. This five inch navigation system is easily identifiable by the model number listed on the back of the device. The device also has a micro-usb port on the lower left hand side of the device that is used for charging.
Directions are Inaccurate ¶
GPS directions are not correct- doesn't guide users to their desired destination.
Weak Signal ¶
If your device has clear view of the sky while staying still for at least 5 minutes and still does not have signal, reset the device by holding the slide switch in the off position for about 5 seconds. Upon the device turning back on, make sure it has a clear view of the sky and keep it still for 5 minutes.

Needs Software Upgrade ¶
It is possible that your device’s software is out-of-date. If this is the case, you will need to upgrade its software through the Magellan website. Visit this page to learn more about it.
Motherboard is Faulty ¶

Battery Dies Quickly ¶
GPS will not stay charged for as long as advertised.
Brightness Setting is Too High ¶
If the GPS screen brightness is set to the highest setting, then it may cause your device to die quicker. You can dim this to extend battery life. You can also set the device to automatically go to the dimmest setting when it is not plugged into a power source. Magellan Roadmate is Not Charged ¶
Your GPS can run up to 2 hours on a completely full battery; however, it is possible that you did not allow enough time for a complete charge. According to the manufacturer’s site, the GPS should be completely charged in 4-6 hours.
Charger is Faulty ¶
It is possible that the issue is with the charger itself and not the GPS device. Verify that there are no visible defects with your charging cord. If need be, you can purchase a new one from this site.
Battery is Faulty ¶
If you are sure that your charging cord is not faulty, then it is possible there is a problem with the battery. If this is the case it will need to be replaced. Click this link link to visit a repair guide that details how to replace the Magellan Roadmate battery.
Touch Screen is Unresponsive ¶
The device touch-screen does not respond immediately/does not respond at all when operating.
Dirt/Buildup on Screen ¶
It is possible that your screen may be dirty without you knowing it. To remove residue on device, apply eye glass cleaner to the screen and wipe off with microfiber cloth to prevent scratching.
Damaged/Cracked Screen ¶
