Lenovo 100e Chromebook Gen 4 Screen is Frozen or Unresponsive to Touch
The Chromebook's screen does not respond to the keyboard, touchpad, or touch.
Dirty Screen
- Power off the device.
- Wipe the screen with a microfiber cloth to remove any dust or dirt.
- If a microfiber cloth alone won't clean the screen, use a small amount of distilled water on the microfiber cloth.
Frozen or Black Screen
- Perform a hard reset.
- Hold down the Refresh key.
- Hold down the Power button as well for 10 seconds.
- Remains frozen and unresponsive.
- Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds to force a shutdown.
Faulty Touchscreen
- Check for Chrome OS updates to make sure all features and apps are up to date.
- Go to settings.
- Click About Chrome OS.
- Check for updates.
- Perform a hardware reset.
- Turn off the Chromebook.
- Hold down the Refresh key.
- Press the Power button while continuing to hold down the Refresh key.
- If these don't work, reseat the LCD/Digitizer ribbon cable.
- Power off Chromebook.
- Take it apart and find the LCD/Digitizer ribbon cable.
- If it is damaged it will need to be replaced.
- Otherwise, reconnect it.
- If all else fails, a Powerwash may be needed to reset the whole system.
- Back up any files you wish to keep.
- Sign out of the device.
- Press the keys Ctrl + Alt + Shift + R together on the login screen.
- Alternatively, you can go through Settings > Advanced > Reset Settings > Powerwash.
