Does your Kenmore 110 Series Washing Machine no longer spin or agitate laundry during wash cycles? Does your washing machine also make strange noises or click when you turn on the machine? Kenmore 110 Series Washing Machines are susceptible to a range of problems that could cause them to stop spinning or agitating. Check the following causes to identify and solve the problem.

Causes

1

If the washer will not agitate, its drive belt may have worn out. Over time, the drive belt wears out due to normal use. The belt should be replaced every two to three years, depending on how much the washing machine is used. Use the Kenmore 110 Series Washing Machine Drive Belt Replacement Guide to replace the machine’s drive belt.

2

If you have replaced the washing machine’s lid switch and the machine is still not agitating laundry, it may have a faulty lid switch. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electronically, making this a very common problem. Use an Ohmmeter to test any electrical switches near the lid switch for continuity. According to their design, the lid switch should have continuity. If your Ohmmeter does not show that the lid switch has continuity, use the Kenmore 110 Series Washing Machine Lid Switch Replacement Guide to replace the washing machine’s lid switch.

3

If the washing machine is not able to detect that the water level has reached the desired height, it will not agitate. Open the washing machine’s control panel and look for the water level valve. If the plastic tube attached to the valve appears clogged, use vinegar to unclog it. If the switch appears corroded, it may need to be replaced. Use the Kenmore 110 Series Washing Machine Water Level Sensor Replacement Guide to replace a faulty or corroded water level sensor.

4

If the washing machine still does not agitate or spin, the motor control board may be defective. The motor control board is designed to provide power to the washing machine’s motor. If the motor control board is defective, the washing machine may not function at all. Use the Kenmore 110 Series Washing Machine Electronic Control Replacement Guide to replace the machine’s motor control board.

5

If the washing machine continues to not agitate or spin, its drive motor may be faulty. This is not a common problem and all other parts related to this problem should be investigated before replacing the motor. If the motor is visibly damaged, it will most likely need to be replaced.
