The video produced by your Insignia NS-D160A14 is fuzzy or distorted.

Poor video or sound quality can be caused by an unseated connection between your DVD player and its connected television. Ensure that all connections, such as the composite or component cables, are fully seated.

Eject the DVD and look at the bottom side of the disc. If the disc shows signs of fingerprints or smudges, it may need a simple polishing. If it shows scratches, polish out the scratches. Re-insert the disc to see if the video issues are resolved. If the disc has irreparable damage, a new disc may be required.

Your Insignia NS-D160A14 will not read any CD's or DVD's.

Signs of a defective optical drive include failure to open and failure to read discs. A defective optical drive will need to be replaced. Use the optical drive replacement guide.

If the optical drive seems functional and the connections between the optical drive and the motherboard seem to be correctly seated, the motherboard itself may be defective. To replace the motherboard, consult the motherboard replacement guide

Your disc may not be compatible with your Insignia NS-D160A14. The device supports the following disc types:

  • CD Digital Audio 12 cm
  • CD-R
  • CD-RW
  • DVD-Video 12 cm
  • DVD-R
  • DVD-RW
  • DVD+R
  • DVD+RW
  • DVD-R DL Dual Layer
  • DVD+R Dual Layer

If the disc is not listed above, try a different disc.

Your Insignia NS-D160A14 will not power on.

Plug in a small appliance to confirm that the receptacle outlet has power. If no power is present at the receptacle outlet, then contact a qualified licensed electrician.

Do not plug in the power cord to a power source if the power cord is visibly damaged. Obtain a new power cord to exchange for the damaged one. Replace the power cord by using the power cord replacement guide.

Make sure your power cord on the Insignia NS-D160A14 is fully seated in the wall outlet.

If your internal power wire on the DVD player is damaged or disconnected, consult the power cord replacement guide.

When you plug your Insignia NS-D160A14 into a television, nothing seems to happen.

Utilize color coding to make sure the AV connectors are set to the corresponding AV jacks on your DVD player. Plug the connectors into the AV jacks that are the same color as the connector.

Your television may be capable of a number of different display modes. Consult your television owner's manual to make sure that your device is configured properly for use with the DVD player.

Inspect your AV cables for visual damage to the connector or wiring casing. Damaged cables should be replaced.

Inspect the AV jacks on the back of your DVD player. If you observe blockage or damage of any kind, consult the AV board replacement guide.
