Hoover T-Series WindTunnel Pet UH30310 Troubleshooting

This troubleshooting page will help you diagnose problems with the Hoover T-Series WindTunnel Pet UH30310 Troubleshooting.

When turning on the vacuum, there is no feeling of suction or vacuum does not pick up the dirt and dust.

Perhaps there is a collection of debris somewhere in the tube. To check if this is your issue, turn the vacuum on. If the indicator near the top of the vacuum does not display green/displays red, then your unit has a blockage. Remove the hose and visually inspect to see if there is a blockage. If there is a blockage, using a long rod or broom handle, push through the hose until the blockage has been removed.

If the blockage is near the lower hose, remove the Brush from the bottom of the vacuum and use a large spoon handle or pipe cleaner to remove the blockage.

Perhaps your issue is that your filters are too clogged with debris. The top filter, or main filter, is washable, so rinse/wash off the debris from the filter and let it air-dry for at least 24 hours. The second filter below the main filter is the HEPA filter. This one SHOULD NOT BE WASHED OR WET. If there is debris on it, tap it out into a waste bin.

When using the vacuum, the vacuum starts to give off an abnormal heat and sometimes the smell of something burning.

The biggest cause of an overheating in the vacuum is that the motor within the vacuum is overheating. The vacuum must be turned off and the power cord disconnected for the motor to cool down to acceptable temperatures. This will take at least 30 minutes, so use this time to check for clogs within the hoses or stuck debris. (Hoover T-Series WindTunnel Pet UH30310 Motor Replacement).

When trying to use the vacuum, the handle won’t lean back and it will be unable to reach some hard to reach places.

Check to see if there is an object stuck around the hinge. An object could be a pen or a toy. There may also be something stuck by the upright lock. An object that is stuck at the hinge will not allow for the vacuum to recline.

Be sure that the head of the vacuum is on the ground. Press down on the vacuum to assure that it is locked in the upright position, then try to recline again.

When using the vacuum, the brush in the head of the vacuum doesn’t spin.

There is a switch on the head of the vacuum to turn the brush on and off. Make sure it’s in the ‘On’ position.

The brush might be stuck due to some string or hair stopping its movement. Check the brush head and remove and debris that may be stopping its rotation.

It is possible the brush roll is damaged and can no longer spin. If none of the above steps work, you may have to Replace the Brush Roll. (Hoover T-Series WindTunnel Pet UH30310 Brush Replacement).

The vacuum makes loud or high pitched noises when operating.

Look through the hose with a light to check if you can see any obstruction. If the obstruction is visible, use a long, sturdy object to try and loosen it up. If you cannot see the obstruction, the hose may have a leak in it causing a high pitched sound. To test if there is a leak in the hose, remove the hose from the vacuum and run water through it. If there is a leak or puncture, water will leak out of it.

If the inlet filter is too dirty it may be causing the motor to become strained. This strain will produce sounds that the vacuum usually doesn’t produce. This may also cause the motor to overheat, so if both issues are experienced, this may be the problem. Try removing the filter and cleaning it or replacing it. If there is a rattling noise coming from the vacuum, it is likely that some solid debris is trapped in the vacuum. Inspect the hose first for any debris inside of it. This can be achieved by simply shaking the hose and listening for a rattling sound. There may also be debris trapped in the brush roll that is causing the sound, make sure the brush roll is free of any solid objects by visually inspecting it. If you see an object stuck, try removing it with your fingers. If you are unable to, try removing the brush roll assembly and then pull the solid object out. The final place to check would be the dust collection cup. Empty this cup out and then try running the vacuum again.
