The Galaxy S5 unlike its predecessors uses a USB 3.0 charging port instead of USB 2.0. If phone is charging while attached to your computer which does not have a USB 3.0 SS port, then the device may charge slower than when plugged into the wall. Additionally, the battery may be dead: you can buy a replacement battery from a third party or from Samsung.
If your Galaxy S5 does not recognize that your SD memory card is plugged in, turn off your phone, remove the battery and try reinserting the memory card. If the device still does not recognize your SD card, insert it into your computer and format it with a FAT 32 file system.
