Revision to Roku XD 2050X Troubleshooting

If you have followed all of the previous steps and the device still won’t turn on, your options are limited. You might want to read further into this troubleshooting guide, and the subsequent repair guides, to learn how to replace the motherboard in the device, as this is the primary component of the Roku XD. Otherwise, you will have to purchase a new Roku XD.

+Replace the bad batteries with new ones

+Remove batteries from the remote. Hold down every single button on the remote for five seconds. Then, replace the batteries.

+Next, unplug the power cord from the Roku, wait for five seconds, plug the power cord back into the Roku, and wait for Roku banner

+=== Button Contacts Are Dirty ===

+To clean the remote contacts, open the remote following the [guide|0|remote general disassembly guide]. Then, use Q-tips and alcohol to clean the contacts on the circuit board and on the rubber pad

+Check the solder joints at battery terminals. If the terminals are loose, they will need to be re-soldered. For help with soldering view the iFixit [guide|750|soldering guide]

+To check that the LED is functioning, Turn off the light, point the remote at a camera ( cellphone camera is easiest )and hold down a remote button. If the IR LED is working, you will see it on your phone’s display screen.
