Does your Dyson Ball Animal vacuum cleaner turn off unexpectedly during use or refuse to turn on at all? Dyson Ball Animal vacuum cleaners are susceptible to a range of problems that could cause them to have power issues. Check the following possible causes to identify and solve the problem.

Causes

1

If the vacuum is not plugged into its power outlet correctly, it will not turn on. Check to make sure that the vacuum’s electrical cord is completely plugged into the outlet. Additionally, the power outlet could be a problem. Plug something like a phone charger (with your phone plugged in) into the power outlet to check that the outlet is actually producing power. You could alternatively plug in a lamp or another electronic device that allows the user to easily tell if it is working.

2

If the vacuum’s ‘On/Off’ switch is not on, the vacuum will not turn on. Check to make sure that the vacuum’s ‘On/Off’ switch is turned to ‘On.’

3

Vacuums can draw a significant amount of power when they turn on, and it is not uncommon for vacuums to trip a circuit breaker or fuse. Check your circuit breaker to make sure that the vacuum’s power outlet was not tripped. If the breaker has been tripped, press the reset button on the outlet. If your outlet does not include a reset button, locate your circuit breaker panel (which may be located in the basement of your home) to reset the outlet.

This Dyson vacuum model comes with an automatic safety system that will turn off the machine if it begins to overheat. If you find that your machine is turning off intermittently, the filter in your vacuum is most likely full and covering the ventilation system. Remove the filter, then empty and wash it. Allow the filter to dry for at least 24 hours, or until it is completely dry. Before replacing the filter, check and make sure that there are no blockages on the vents. Do not run the device until you have let it cool for at least half an hour.

5

If your vacuum turns off immediately after turning it on or does not turn on, it may be a problem with the power cord. The cable usually breaks where it enters the vacuum cleaner, which can cause it to cut in and out quickly. The best option is to replace the entire cable. You can find a replacement cable at this site. Use the Dyson Ball Animal Power Cord Replacement Guide to replace the vacuum’s broken power cord.
