Acer Aspire Switch 10 SW5-012-18MY Troubleshooting
The Acer Aspire Switch 10 SW5-012-18MY is a hybrid tablet/laptop that runs on the Windows OS. It was originally released in April 2014.
Windows Button Not Responding ¶
The Windows Key is not responding on your Acer Aspire Switch 10
Windows Key Activation Issue ¶
If the windows key on your tablet is not turning on or off in response to being activated, then there may be an issue with the key sensitivity. This can be resolved by installing the BIOS v1.05 update. First connect the tablet to the keyboard dock and AC adapter, leave these connected until the update is complete. On the Start screen type Live Updater and then double click to launch the program. Once the program has launched, select Check for Updates and select the BIOS v1.05 update. Once the update is installed you can close the application.
Bad Windows Key ¶
If after installing the BIOS v1.05 update you are still experiencing issues with the Windows Key on your Acer Aspire Switch 10, then there may be an issue with the hardware. In this case, the Acer Community recommends contacting your local repair organization to book your unit in for repair.
Acer Aspire Switch 10 Won’t Turn On ¶
The device will not power on when pressing the power key
Dead Battery ¶
If the light is on when the device is connected to the AC adapter, then you may need to perform a hard reboot. First, disconnect the tablet from all external accessories (including the Keyboard Dock) and then unplug the AC adapter. Once you have completed these steps you can perform a hard reboot by holding down the power button for one minute until you hear a ‘click’. Now reconnect the AC adapter and try turning on the tablet again.
Bad AC Adapter ¶
If the light does not come on when the AC adapter is connected, then there is likely an issue with the adapter. In this case it would be necessary to replace the AC adapter.
Unresponsive Keyboard or Touchpad ¶
When the tablet is connected to the keyboard dock there is no response from the keyboard or touchpad
Firmware Update ¶
To resolve the issue of an unresponsive keyboard or touchpad, it is recommended to install the keyboard dock update. First, connect the tablet to the keyboard dock and AC adapter. After this step, use the Windows Key to bring up the Start screen and type Live Updater and then double click to launch the program. Once the program has launched, select Check for Updates and install the keyboard dock update. A step-by-step explanation of this process can be seen in the video below.
Bad Keyboard ¶
If the keyboard dock update does not resolve the issue of an unresponsive keyboard and touchpad, then it is necessary to replace the keyboard.
No Audio Through Speakers or Headphones ¶
You cannot hear audio playing through the device's speakers or when connected to headphones
Windows Software Update Issues ¶
This issue is a result of the Windows 10 Update and will require you to uninstall the current Audio Drivers on your device and then reinstall the updated Drivers available through Acer Support. A step-by-step guide to this solution can be found here.
