Cheapest and faster solution is to buy a USB stereo audio adapter by Syba for $8 on Amazon. It has 2 ports: one for stereo audio and 2nd port for mic. Its called "Syba SD-CM-UAUD USB Stereo Audio Adapter" No software needed...macbook will automatically recognized it. Then change settings on Mac to: Choose "System Preferences" from the applications menu and select "Sound." in hardware tab--> Output Port -> Select "USB PnP Sound Device" -> Use audio port for "Sound Output" If you want to use your iphone headphones for audio and mic, then you need to buy additional adapter: Two port 3.5mm Stereo Male with 3.5mm Stereo Female --sells for $3 on Amazon.
