Hi, been having an issue with my MBP 13” mid2010 since the hdd died on me. I put an Evo 840 256gb SSD inside it and it worked perfectly for over a year until recently when it decided not to boot anymore. I could read the 840 externally from an adapter just fine, but i formatted it and put it back into the MBP to make a clean install and still wasn't recognisable by the MBP (tried with orig OS X 10.6 dvd). I now bought an Evo 860 (with fingers crossed) but again, no luck here. Start up + Option key gets me to a tray of Install DVD, then Apple Icon and the spinning wheel.. If, if, the suggestion with changing sata-cable comes up, exactly what cable should fit? Or the dvd might be faulty? Thanks!
iMac mid 2011, try to do fusion drive Samsung 860 EVO - error, don’t work, try to do additional driver to CD-ROM cable, sometime iMac see SSD sometimes fully missing, so i spent 2-3 days, than i thought SSD broken, check it for all test on another PC computer all work well, try again iMac - no result don’t work and all. So i have do conclusion iMac mid 2011 27 inch don’t work with new samsung 860 EVO 250GB , by the way still work my fusion drive at my old 250GB Samsung EVO 840.

Symptomatic is next: When you connect 860 EVO (I check it) or 850 EVO (I didn't check it 850 EVO, so info for 850 EVO maybe not correct). You can start from internet recovery but you cannot do fusion drive, for fusion drive you should start from USB recovery, yes you can do fusion drive with 860 EVO or 850 EVO but then when will be recovery from time machine you will se error and time machine is stop, then if you will try install new system to you new fusion formatted disk, you will cannot install, not sierra, not sierra high, maybe el captain will work but you will see many error when install it (6 hours maybe), if you still install some OS don't start to be happy, because will be many errors and white screen. So by the way. If you try to in...
