Answer to: Power/Sleep and Home Button UnresponsiveIt is most definitely a damaged on/off, volume flex cable. There is a post elsewhere on this site.
Answer to: How to fix a home button problem?I know this is an old post, but I figured this might help someone else in need. I had this issue as well. What I noticed was that there is a tiny black dimple, about the size of a grain of sand (maybe bigger), that is on the part of the home button flex cable that helps the home button make contact with the flex cable actuator. I had to find something very tiny to take the place of the missing dimple. After doing this it worked fine. Remember, it needs to be really small or the home button will continuously depress. Hope this helps.
Answer to: iPod Touch 4th Gen Volume increases and decreases on it's owni have had this same thing happen. If I am not mistaken, it is due to too much solder, which is making contact on both volume solder points.
