How to replace power flex strip?Long story short... My iPad 2 digitizer shattered. I ordered a new digitizer, but managed to rip the volume / power flex stri...
Answer to: Possible to transplant home button? As far as I know, it's only for aligning the front camera with the digitizer. I haven't seen any other use for it, anyhow.
Answer to: Possible to transplant home button?Yes. The home button is just a plastic piece with no real adhesive on the original digitizer. There is also a piece behind it, which has a similar shape as a trapezoid. This has two contacts, one on either end. The home button presses on this piece, which presses the contacts down. Make sure you note the position of the home button (on the back of the digitizer) before removing it. Edit: Also, be sure to transfer the metal piece at the top of the digitizer where the front-facing camera is. Neither of these pieces were difficult to remove, and I used a double-sided tape to re-adhere the metal camera piece to the new digitizer.
Answer to: Power button don't workI'm guessing you ripped the volume / power button flex cable. Refer to this image: http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/lEQAthYhglltw6Cg.h... Diagonally down from the red circle, there's a green strip with two orange conductors. This cable is not difficult to rip. I haven't found a way to repair the cable because solder doesn't appear to stick, even after using sand paper on the surface. Your best bet is to buy a replacement flex cable, if that ends up being your issue.
