Answer to: Freezing issues on start up.The first issue I ran into with this was realizing that if you plug the power supply into a surge protection strip, it will almost always lock up. The best way to prevent this is to simply plug it into the wall. Make sure it's got a lot of air and isn't in a tight place. Otherwise, you'd have to get a bit more techincal with it, often involving replacements. It's not nice to spend the 100 for a repair, but I would not recommend doing unapproved procedures, as Microsoft can and will check for these if you try them. If you send it in, they will give it back reporting that they will not attempt to fix an opened unit.
Answer to: IBM R52 Motherboard ERROR 0271: Check date and time settingError 0271 probably means your computer lost all power, and lost the time/date. Just press F1 the second anything comes across the display and it should start the BIOS setup utility. Set the date and time, and let the battery charge awhile. Error 2010 is another pain that I just dealt with. It involves certain machines with a strange bios that looks for firmware that is present in very few hard drives. The easiest way to fix this is to flash the BIOS with an identical bios that doesn't have this error. Before you flash your bios with a new one, make sure you check on the bottom for a sticker that says what type it is, and select the corresponding download link. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.
