Answer to: Starts with a blue screenCharles & I got you started, but Mayer has a good point. You could have a corrupt OS...and/or HD. The safest thing to do is back up your HD (except for OSX). Reformat the HD, reinstall OSX, and test the hard drive. Even if the only thing that is corrupt is the OS, it could be bad sectors on the hard drive. Hard drives are too cheep to risk loss of one only data. I lost my HD on my iMac of the same vintage and did loose some irreplaceable data.
Answer to: Starts with a blue screenConnect another Mac with firewire. Start the MacBook in firewire HD mode. If you get the firewire symbol on your MacBook screen and no drive shows on the other mac, hard drive has failed.
